July 03, 2020 / by Junko

When summer is close, the Japanese crave cold noodles.
This time, Shihomi made 2 types of delicious dipping sauce for “somen” noodles, a summer staple in Japan.
It’s a very easy recipe and great for preventing summer heat fatigue!

4 bunch somen noodle

[Cold shabu-shabu tomato sauce]
200cc mentsuyu (1 concentrated mentsuyu : 1 water)
100g pork slice for shabu-shabu (any part you like)
1/2 tomato
3 spring onion

[Spicy soy milk sauce]
100cc mentsuyu (concentrated)
100cc soy milk (unadjusted)
50g minced pork
1/2 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 garlic
1 tsp tobanjan (hot chili & soybean paste)
1 tsp chili oil
3 Chinese chive

There are so many Japanese dishes and cultures that are not well known outside of Japan and I’m happy to introduce them to you! If you tested any of our recipes feel free to send us a photo and your comments and we will be happy to publish them, even if it wasn't a complete success! :)
