Bonito Tataki-style Salad

Today, we will be using bonito that becomes fatty and delicious during this time of year.
In Japan, we have a dish called “tataki” where the outer part of the bonito is seared and we eat it with soy sauce and condiments but in this episode, we will fancy it up a bit and make a salad that can also be served at parties!


1 pack bonito (tataki style for sashimi)
1 grapefruit
1/8 red onion
1 bundle watercress
2 tbsp vinegar (adjust with grapefruit juice)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp caper
salt & pepper

1/2 tbsp olive oil (for watercress)
salt (for watercress)

グレープフルーツと戻り鰹のサラダ仕立て

今日は脂が乗って美味しくなってきたカツオを使ったメニューです。
いつものたたきをちょっとおしゃれにサラダ仕立てにして、パーティーでも活躍する一皿にします!
鰹には旬が2回あります。
南から北に北上する春と、逆に南下していくときの秋。春は初鰹・上り鰹、秋は戻り鰹といわれて、秋の方が栄養と脂肪を蓄えてもっちりとした食感が特徴です!
