The Chinese version of these buns is typically made using BBQ char siu pork as the filling. However, the Japanese version is filled with pork mince, shiitake mushroom, and some vegetables, and seasoned with a blend of ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and more to give it a super delicious Japanese flavor. Nikuman is one of the Japanese favorite winter snacks. When we see those Nikuman including other kinds of buns starting to be sold at convenience stores, we feel that winter is approaching.
