Norimaki / Saikyoyki / Chawanmushi Class

April 24, 2021 / by Junko

Our first “Saikyoyaki (miso marinated)” fish and “Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard)” lesson with sushi rolls! We had a wonderful time with our lovely guests, watching them make Japanese omelettes and rolling their sushis. One of the omelettes turned out triangular! How cute! Everyone loved the chawanmushi and was surprised that it was the dashi that made it creamy, and no cream is added to this dish🤗 We had 3 different types of fish for the Saikyo-yaki, and marinating them overnight really added great flavor to the fish, and turned out nicely!

Wow. That was a lot of food, but happy everyone enjoyed everything!😊

There are so many Japanese dishes and cultures that are not well known outside of Japan and I’m happy to introduce them to you! If you tested any of our recipes feel free to send us a photo and your comments and we will be happy to publish them, even if it wasn't a complete success! :)
