Steamed pork buns, known as ‘Nikuman’ or ‘Butaman’ in Japanese, are originally from Chinese baozi. The Chinese version of these buns is typically made using BBQ char siu pork as the filling. However, the Japanese version is filled with pork mince, shiitake mushroom, and some vegetables, and seasoned with a blend of ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and more to give it a super delicious Japanese flavor.

Nikuman is one of the Japanese favorite winter snacks. When we see those Nikuman including other kinds of buns starting to be sold at convenience stores, we feel that winter is approaching.

My Nikuman is so popular that many friends request the buns when winter comes ;)
I'd like to share my special recipe and show you how to make them in this workshop.
We will also make Anman (buns with sweet bean paste called 'Anko' and sesame). You will have a total of 6 buns, 4 Nikuman and 2 Anman (sesame & sweet bean paste).

We'll have a tasting time and you can take the rest of the buns home.

Price : 5,500 yen (including tax)
Ingredients, texts, tea are included in the fee.

Please bring an apron (we do have some to lend out), a container and a bag to bring back the buns.







  • You can enter the classroom 10 minutes before the lesson starts.
  • The Workshop will be given in English and Japanese.
  • Please bring aprons (we do have some to lend out, but sizes and numbers of aprons are limited)
  • The duration is planned to be 3.5 hours, but it may be longer depending on the number of participants.
  • Please note that photos on the day may be posted on SNS, websites, etc.
