Let's enjoy designing your own bento!

‘Bento (弁当)’ is the word for Japanese lunch box that is becoming popular worldwide. It is common for students and businessmen to bring bento from home daily in Japan.
‘Charaben’, short for Character Bento, is bento where the food is arranged and decorated to look like popular characters, animals, and etc. It was born from Japanese mothers’ desire to get their picky children to enjoy and eat their lunch.

Soboro bento is one of my favorite bento boxes that my mom made for me when I was a child. The word ‘Soboro’ means “finely crumbled”. They are cooked in a sweet-salty sauce and arranged on top of the rice in a box or bowl to present an appealing and colorful display.
These beautiful boxes are a delight to both the eyes and the taste buds!

In this lesson, you will learn how to make 2 types of soboro using egg and ground chicken, decoration tips and all you need to know about bento making!
You can choose standard style bento or cute charaben.
We will also make at least three side dishes and miso soup from scratch.

There are so many tools and accessories available for you to use in bento making. We can also show you the recommended tools and accessories that you can purchase at 100 yen shop!

* A welcome drink and a glass of wine, beer or sake are included. Bringing in your own bottles is welcome!
* Menus are subject to change based on the availability of items in the market.

Remarks

  • Just bring yourself! Aprons are available for free.
  • No need to clean up.
  • Children aged 6 and older are counted as separate participants. If you like to bring children under 6 years old to your class, we recommend you to book a private class. Thank you for your understanding.
  • Take-away is possible except for raw food, but management outside of the classroom is requested by yourself and we are not responsible for any trouble on hygiene. Please bring your own take-away container, ice cooler etc.
  • Price includes lesson, all ingredients, printed recipes and the listed number of drinks.

  • 13 days to 4 days week prior to the booked date : 50% refund
  • 3 days prior to the booked date : no refund
