Makizushi is the broader term used to describe rolled sushi. When wrapped in seaweed (nori) it is simply called Norimaki.
In this class, we focus mainly on Norimaki.
I’ll show you all the basics from cooking rice properly to making seasoned sushi rice and preparing all your ingredients, and of course, rolling some delicious sushi rolls.
Once we have the basics down, you'll get hands-on practice learning a variety of sushi-making techniques, including:
- Hosomaki (thin sushi rolls)
- Futomaki (thick sushi rolls)
- Uramaki (inside-out rolls)
- Inarizushi (sushi rice stuffed in sweet soy sauce flavored tofu pouches)
We also make Japanese egg omelet and miso soup from scratch.
We'll complement our efforts with a glass of sake, beer or wine!
*Rolling sushi needs a little technique. We recommend for children under 10 years old take 'Temakizushi' or 'Chirashizushi' lesson.
