Japanese × Thai × Italian

Today I had a lunch meeting for discussing our project with Eikorn. We say “meeting,” but it actually means “eating” 😉

Since I got a lot of veggies from my mom’s garden, I made green curry and caponata with them.

A few years ago, I found Japanese noodle Somen ‘素麺’ goes well with Thai green curry.
Somen are very thin noodles that are usually served cold and eaten during the summer. Normally we dip them in dashi based soy sauce.

When I was young, my mother would make somen during the summer time when she was busy since it is very easy to prepare. I enjoy somen now, but back then, I remember thinking to myself, “Somen again!?” I was tired of the standard way of eating somen and I wanted something new and different. When I had it with Thai green curry, I fell in love with the combination! I think Eikorn enjoyed it too. At least I think she did…

Now, when it comes to Caponata, we all know it calls for wine!
Of course when I’m with Eikorn, we can’t have lunch without a glass or two!
Today, we had a Japanese wine from Yamanashi prefecture called Muscat Bailey A.

Now you can imagine how our meeting ended…
