There are some tricks to make Okonomiyaki as if it were made by a professional.
You’ll leave with the skill to make incredible Okonomiyaki and impress all of your family and friends!
Okonomiyaki is a popular pan fried food that consists of flour-based batter and lots of cabbage, containing a variety of ingredients such as egg, pork or/and seafood. Enjoyed with flavorful okonomiyaki-sauce, mayonnaise and bonito flakes as toppings.
The dish is available all over Japan, but is originally from the west, particularly the cities of Osaka and Hiroshima. They have different styles. Here at JJ Kitchen, we make Osaka style Okonomiyaki.
In this hands-on class, we will make 2 types of Okonomiyaki. One is with pork and the other one with ingredients of your choice (seafood, cheese and etc). Because that’s what “okonomi” means!
“okonomi” means “how you like” or “what you like”, and “yaki” means “grill”.
Once you learn the standard Okonomiyaki, you can try to make your own unique Okonomiyaki with ingredients from your country. Please send me the picture of your own Okonomiyaki. I’m very curious to hear what you guys come up with and how Japanese Okonomiyaki evolves overseas!!
