Comparing “Tonjiru ” and “Kasujiru”

In this episode, the soup of the world that Shihomi will be making is Japanese Tonjiru (miso soup with pork and vegetables)! This is a type of miso soup that is enjoyed by many, and since it contains meat, it is nutritious and can be considered as a side dish. This soup is made in many households, and in this episode we will show you how to bring out the flavor of the vegetables. We also made one using sake lees (Kasujiru), and compared the two types!

[ Ingredients ]
100g pork belly (thin slices)
50g potato or satoimo (taro), sweet potato
50g daikon radish
50g carrot
1/2 green onion (use both white and green parts)
1/2 package konjac
1 tsp sesame oil
500ml dashi (Japanese soup stock)
2 tbsp miso
(Additional seasoning for Kasujiru)
40g sake lees
1 tsp soy sauce
